1969 Christine Richards commented in 2023 "I remember the good old days in the egg packing station at Honiton. One still clear in my memory-we did consignments of huge double yokers. They were all on trays on metal shelving, thousands of them. There was an awful creaking noise and in slow motion the shelving collapsed-egg everywhere! I remember it vividly-we were there till late cleaning it up. I was covered in wet egg, by the time I got home, 3 miles away on my pushbike, my clothes were rigid! It was great times, so much camaraderie, my neighbours at Combe Raleigh also worked at Express: Dick and Midge Loftus, they got me the job there when I left school at 16 in 1969. Dick was an egg lorry driver, Midge went on from eggs to butter, sadly both are gone now."
