1971/2 Bloomsbury. David Graber comments "My dad Mick Graber worked at Bloomsbury for over 40 years. They needed a milkman and float for a scene in a Hammer movie and he was “asked” to go down and help them out. His scene lasted about 5 seconds and was filmed early in the day. But he had to hang around until late afternoon, not even allowed a cup of tea from the catering truck!! Michael Aldread adds "Worked with Mick at Bloomsbury-great guy got on well with him." 2024 Bloomsbury Depot Site. Housing Design awards in 2011 for 1 x 2 bed townhouse, 4 x 3 bed townhouses on Wakefield Street, WC1N 1PG "The site was previously an Express Dairy depot, which opened in 1965 but closed 5 years ago. The site is currently occupied by the 949m2 Express Dairy warehouse with B8 uses. The property is located in the Bloomsbury conservation area and an Archaeology Priority area." Derek Hollis comments "I was an assistant manager here in the late 1960's. I was in my early twenties back then. The manager was Ernie Benford. What a busy and very profitable depot. Bloomsbury Depot was split into two locations. Amazing place. I served, whist I was there, Downing Street (Harold Wilson), Fleet Street, Houses of Parliament and the old Covent Garden... to name a few. You would not believe how busy that depot was back in those days." Eamonn Fay adds "I started here in the 80's had some laughs... great people, lots of famous calls served from here-The Queen, 10 Downing Street... At the end of the month we collected thousands in cash £10,000, £20,000 and you carried that on you-today you would be murdered for a fiver." (Courtesy Google Streetview)
