Welling Paul Batchelor remembers "When the Bromley bottling centre closed the machinery was cleared out. The EVM department made some alterations and installed battery chargers ready for the milk floats coming in from the retail depot next door, which was being closed. We moved into the old building and had our parts store and office there temporarily. I was asked by my manager to go to a new site in Old Holmesdale Road, which would become the new Bromley retail depot within three months. I was asked to select two engineers to work with me; it was a major task installing 75 brand new battery chargers. New transit vans were ordered as Orpington depot was also closing and some vehicles moving in there, and Welling depot. All new granite floors were laid in the depot, a new cold store installed and Servery. I had an office attached to our workshop. I then moved on to another new depot at Anerley with the same staff again to have ready within three months with another 75 chargers and new Ford transits. Mission completed on time."
