The house on the right was built by my great-grandfather and was called Station Villa (now Pear Tree cottage); the young girl in white in the group walking down the road is my grandma, Majorie Gornall. 1900's Minsterley Toll House Patrick Taylor commented "The Old Toll House at the top of Horsebridge Road. As a child, I remember the cobbler lived and worked there and can remember taking shoes to be repaired. In those days the Toll House was opposite Bowens shop, which as now been demolished. The Blacksmith Tom Edward's workshop was nextdoor. Ian Perrin adds "I think I remember my mum saying that she went to Brownies in the old Toll House. As a young boy, when staying at my grandparents in the holidays, my grandfather would send me up to Bowens for a pack of Embassy cigarettes..." (Courtesy Karen Osman)

Harry Evans identified Tom Edwards, Blacksmith-he lived at Horsebridge. Jo Betts added "I remember standing at the door, watching him at the forge." Len Bailey mentions "Later, Tom Edwards had a blacksmith's shop next door-he also made coffins. As a lad I watched him shoeing a large cart horse". Chris Evans confirms that "this was opposite the Toll House; there was also a pub there till 1950's.". Mike Challinor comments "The Blacksmiths shop was on the corner of the road down to Minsterley Methodist Chapel and I would imagine it was called Horsebridge road as that is where it leads to. During my time the Blacksmith himself was Tom Edwards who actually lived at Horsebridge. If my memory serves me right he was also an undertaker. I know he had at least one son, Glyn Edwards, who was a little older than me but he was at Priory Boys the same time as me." Yvonne Davies adds "Mr Bowens' green van from the shop.
