1950's South Morden. Chris Jelly write "My dear Dad, Sam Jelly, working at South Morden bottling plant as a driver. When he started at Morden he knocked two years off his age - turned up for work, called in the office and was informed 'You're 67 - he was sent home. I was there that day; he was so upset. I went for interview in 1962 as a driver, only ever driven an old Ford Anglia. 'Jump in' said the transport manager, to a thirty-foot artic - I drove around Morden and back, parked onto the loading bay. 'When can you start?'. Monday, I said-those were the days..." 1965 New colour scheme for the Express fleet
1965 Mr Arthur Dennis of South Morden tanker pool, who received the highest award of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents—the Meritorious Service Medal—at a ceremony in Greenwich Town Hall, with Mayor of Greenwich, Councillor Mrs Julia Johnson, JP. Arthur saw a pony and cart bolting out of control down Rochester Way, Kidbrooke. Although he had no knowledge of horses, he ran alongside and grabbed one of the shafts, and was about to gather up the reins when he was thrown into the roadway. He then commandeered a passing car, got ahead of the pony and managed to bring it to a halt. (Express News Summer/Autumn)

I used to love going to ‘Model’ as it was known locally. Really friendly team on site with a great knowledge of the process and equipment.
